Our autumn appeal went live at noon today!
For one week only, all online donations can automatically double in value through The Big Give Women and Girls Match Fund campaign. Your five pounds becomes £10, as if by magic, at no additional cost to yourself. And you can donate in any major currency. Through this appeal we are aiming to raise £32,000 – which means we have £16,000 in pre-existing pledges ready to match online gifts. We will be using the funds to:
- Provide material support to the poorest children to encourage school attendance. This will be in the form of school rucksacks and disposable sanitary pads made by young deaf women at our Lily’s Leaves social enterprise in Kathmandu.
- Fund bursaries that will allow children from very poor families who have successfully passed Nepal’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE) to proceed into college, giving them a real chance of good employment or higher education.
- Pay the very modest salaries that we pay to students who act as tutors at our Community Learning Centres (CLCs) in south Nepal.
To find out a little more about this and the difference your donation can make, check out this short film by our new Trustee, the actor Amrita Acharia:
Below you’ll find the link to the campaign and donation page. Please join me in donating to this very important campaign that will transform girls’ prospects and help lift them out of the grinding poverty of south Nepal. Thank you!
