Implementing partners in Nepal

Under Nepalese law, overseas organisations can’t run projects directly in Nepal – they must work through local partners. We do this by partnering with a social enterprise, Lily’s Leaves, and two NGOs: Mithila Wildlife Trust (MWT) and Our Sansar. These three organisations collaborate closely with one another.

Our role includes:

  • Providing resources – mainly funding, plus occasional consultancy

  • Offering daily mentoring and support with project design, development, and fundraising

  • Making introductions and coordinating with international stakeholders
  • Leading on global communications, including social media and media outreach
  • Organising project visits for overseas donors and supporters
  • Monitoring and evaluating projects, and reporting back to funders

  • Strengthening our partners’ long-term sustainability and capacity

We’re more than just a funding channel – our involvement helps elevate these projects. But this is a two-way street: we couldn’t do what we do without our incredible partners. It’s a relationship built on professionalism, trust, and shared passion.

Kathmandu-based Lily’s Leaves is a social enterprise that provides training and employment to a group of vulnerable young women, including a number who are deaf. Founded by Mrs Lily Katuwal KC, it implements our Urban Nature Project in Kathmandu and trains marginalised women in Madhesh Province in tailoring skills and supports them into business.

This NGO is based near Janakpur and implements all of our community environmental and educational projects in Madhesh Province. It is led by its Founder, Dev Narayan Mandal, who acts as its Executive Chairman. Dev is a national authority on conservation and on snakes and their management.

Based in Birgunj, Madhesh Province, Our Sansar operates our refuge for rape survivors in the principal town of Janakpur. We do not liaise directly with this NGO, instead working through its eponymous UK registered charity which takes the operational lead in our partnership.
